1) Tumblast Type Shotblasting Machine:
This machine is principally an endless belt that is contrived in such a way that the material to be blasted is cupped in the well that is formal as shown in fig. In operation, belt conveyer is moving in a direction as shown. The work piece therefore climbs up with the belt & tumble foreword constantly exposing itself to the blast stream from all sides. Reversing the mill discharges the work pieces there by unloading the same suitable for mainly small ridge components.

2) Swing Table type Shotblasting Machine:
These consist of a round table over which the components to be blasted are placed and the table rotates about its axis exposing the components to the blast stream. To reduce the cycle time, another table is hinged on the other side of opening which is unloaded and loaded when the blasting is in process on the first one. The main disadvantage of this arrangement is that with larger dia of the table the operator has to cover large distance in opening and closing of machine. Components are placed on the table the bottom side needs to be turned upside down.

3) Spinner hanger type Shotblasting Machine:
In this type, the components to be shot blasted are placed strategically on a fabrication hanger. The hanger is suspended on a hook which rotates around its axis. Two blast wheels on the side walls of the machine, thus exposing the components from all sides. This machine is equipped with two doors and hangers hook driven by a geared motor. The machine is fitted with angled up throwing & down throwing blast wheels which provides adequate coverage.

Shotblasting machines have a variety of wear parts that need to be replaced periodically. These spares are generally primium alloy casting that have high abration resistance properties. With a good inventory of all standard spares in ready to use condition and a dedicated team of service engineers we assure the customer of minimum line loses.

When a component is bombarded with a stream of round metallic media (referred to as shot), each shot dents the surface of the part that it impacts. This impingement of metallic media causes plastic deformation on the part surface. This extends the superficial layer creating compressive stresses underneath and providing a balance to the applied working (tensile) stresses. This residual compressive stress delays the formation of fatigue cracks thereby increasing the useful life of a component.

The layer of compressive stress commonly extends to depths varying from 0.125 mm to 0.85 mm. Greater depths, if desired, are achieved by altering process parameters such as shot size, velocity of impingement, exposure time etc.

The two commonly used parameters to gauge the effect of peening are intensity and coverage. Where as coverage (100%, 200% or higher) is purely a visual check, intensity is measured by deflection of a representative strip of spring steel (commonly called the Almen strip).
